Ioncell is a Finnish startup that develops a proprietary process to improve the strength and durability of cellulose-based fibers. The process uses non-toxic ionic liquid and water to transform recycled fibers from textile products into strong fibers through a series of dissolution and dry-jet wet spinning processes. It recycles used textiles, pulp, and old newspapers with minimal impact on the environment. The end product is a fiber that is moisture absorbing, biodegradable, lustrous, and dyeable like cotton and viscose.
